Bird Watching – Ospreys and Capercaillies
The Loch Garten Osprey Centre near Nethybridge has an Osprey viewing hide overlooking nesting birds.
Between April and August you can watch these magnificent birds diving for fish in tranquil surroundings before they head south, back to the warmer climes of South Africa. So whether you’re an avid Ornithologist or just enjoy the splendour of our Birds of Prey, the Osprey Centre is certainly worth a visit.
Highland Wildlife
Here in Speyside and in the Cairngorm National Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including species rarely seen in the rest of Britain. Pine martins, red squirrels, capercaillies, wolves, otters, red deer, roe deer, lynx, badgers, mountain hare and Highland cattle to name a few. The Highland Wild Park situated in Kingussie is a huge reserve and offers guests the opportunity to see many native species as your drive around (walkers are taken by park staff).
Our friends at Speyside Wildlife have some great tours which we could be more than happy to arrange for you.
