Travelling to Culdearn House

Culdearn House is located in Grantown on Spey, in the heart of Speyside in the Cairngorm National Park. It is easy to reach whether travelling by road, rail, air with good connections from all major routes.

Grantown on Spey, the capital of Strathspey, was founded in the 18th Century, and nestles in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. It is an all year round centre. In addition to the obvious attractions of the area in spring and summer such as whisky distilleries and castles, there is excellent ski-ing and climbing in the Cairngorms in winter, and autumn is particularly beautiful with the heather and the autumnal colours in the trees and bracken, making Strathspey an ideal choice of venue for a short Autumn break.

Grantown is within easy reach of the West Highlands, Skye, Inverness, Loch Ness, Culloden, Aviemore.

Travelling by rail

Aviemore railway station is 15 miles away and well serviced, located on the main line from London to Inverness via Glasgow and Edinburgh. Taxis are readily available at the station. The Sleeper service from London to Inverness is excellent running daily and stops at Aviemore.

Travelling by road

Travelling north on the A9 heading towards Inverness, take the righthand turn onto the A95 2 miles after Aviemore, signposted to Elgin/Grantown on Spey. As you enter Grantown on Spey at the roundabout from the south-west on the A95, take the first exit off travelling 400 yards approx to the 30mph sign where you turn left and Culdearn House is directly in front of you across the road.

When approaching from the North East (Elgin/Aberlour/Braemar/Aberdeen) into Grantown on Spey, crossing over the river bridge, and over the roundabout to the Town Centre. At the traffic lights, turn Left, travelling approx 500 yards to a fork in the road. Take the right-hand fork and Culdearn House is on the right-hand side of the road.

 

Travelling by plane

The nearest airport is Inverness, located 15 minutes north of the city. To reach Culdearn House, follow the signs from the airport to Inverness and then turn left onto the A9  for approximately 22 miles.  Then turn left at sign post Carrbridge and Grantown on Spey.  Follow the signs to Grantown on Spey coming in to the main roundabout on the A95. Travelling approx 400 yards to 30 mile zone turning left and Culdearn House is facing you.   Flights are scheduled from Gatwick, Luton, Glasgow and Edinburgh providing visitors from south of England as well as Scotland with good travel connections.
