Fishing
Fishing in this part of Scotland includes the world famous River Spey as well as the rivers Findhorn, Isla, Lossie and Deveron.
The River Spey around Grantown has become a mecca for professional fishers, and is one of the most productive salmon rivers in Scotland with over 8,000 fish taken each year. Formidable currents carry the finest wild salmon and sea trout in the well oxygenated waters. Magnificent back drop of the Cairngorm Mountains and Hills of Cromdale provide the perfect setting in which to fish.
Fishing is available on the Grantown Association Waters with a daily permit or you can fish on the nearby Castle Grant waters with a weekly permit and both permits are available for Mortimer’s in Grantown and where from you can hire a full range of equipment. Tuition, if required, with experienced and friendly ghillies can be arranged on an hourly or daily basis.
Nearby are the Seafield and Strathspey Estates as well as Tulchan Estate, all of which are within a few miles drive from Culdearn House and where brown trout and salmon fishing is available and can be enjoyed on a daily or weekly basis whilst staying at Culdearn.
We are happy to offer flexible dinner and breakfast arrangements to coincide with fishing times and offer freezer and drying facilities to assist you.
Fishing permits and equipment can be obtained locally at Mortimers Fishing Shop
There is also great info on the local fishing at the Fishpal website whom we are proud to partner with.
